Good day 7th grade!
First lets start by going over the answers to the pollinator worksheet:
1. Bees are important because they help pollinate the crops.
2. Colony collapse disorder- there are many factors causing the decline of bees. Ex- Pesticides, pathogens, lack of genetic diversity and malnutrition.
3. A greater amount of diversity increases likelihood that bees will adapt to new challenges.
4. Coevolution is when two species influence each others evolution.
5. Commercial beehives can pose problems because they have a lack of genetic diversity and can carry pathogens.
6. One solution is mixing in non commercial beehives to increase genetic diversity.
7. Pathogens such as mites.
8. Mowing your lawn every two weeks is what helped bee diversity
9. Answers will vary- perhaps tall grass impedes a bees ability to pollinate.
10. Have a diverse selection of plants in your yard, answers will vary.
